With LuckyAngler and my other experiences I am entertaining at the moment, I have found myself not paying to much attention to my site I have the most fun at LuckyAngler.com. I love Grouper fishing and cant wait for the Mackerel run in a couple of weeks. I just can’t get enough of warm sunsets on a sandbar with an ice cold beer and some good friends. I love the ednalyn rush when you hook into a nice Gag, I enjoy the excitement of a kingfish fight, I simply am in love with the sport of fishing. As a woman and a professional, I can honestly say life is about fishing and my lover and sometimes not in that order. Now gas prices have come down a bit we can now venture out again and explore our area of the west central fishing area, I mean St Josephs sound, the Clearwater hard bottom, Dunedin reef, Clearwater reef, Vets reef and of course the Rube Allen.

Stay tuned for my adventure we have teemed up with Superior-Boats.com and will give you plenty of what you are looking for. Some good girls (maybe) some hott boats and some cool adventures.

The economics of a day on the water

Lucky Angler Mackerel4.jpgThe economics of a day on the water,

Many fisherman or lets say Angler’s have never really put together what a day of fishing actually costs. I have taken  the time to calculate a day on the water with our boat. Mind you we have a SeaRay 240 with a small block so we may be a little more expensive then others. Lets start with bullet points.

  • Gas full tank 70 gallons at $3.44 a gallon = $240.80 OUCH !!
  • 5 lbs squid = $7.00
  •  Ballyhoo = $9.00
  •  Sardines =$8.00
  • Food, Lunch and dinner with snacks for 2 to 3 people =$ 40.00
  • Beer for 2 to 3 people =$24.00
  • More Beer = $24.00
  • Ice = $15.00
  • Bottle of Captain Morgan incase beer runs out $23.99

Taking into account we don’t have to pay to park since we already have the slip and also knowing we will not be burning a whole tank of gas in a day we will split the gas costs in half. We will generally burn a tank in a two day period trolling.

Also this figure of $220.40 is having the boat fully stocked with sun screen and toiletries, charged batteries for the DVD player and other fans that we don’t want to use the boats energy for.

The fishing trip that is $220.40 a day now gets even less do to the fact your buddy who you bring along generally pitches in at least $50.00 to $60.00 so now the day is just a tad bit less at a little over $158.00.
